The German hypermarket chain famila Kiel has been selected as a finalist in the Reta Europe Retail Technology Awards 2026 for its innovative Checkout & Smart Store concept with shopreme as the technology partner.

Retailers from around the world are being recognized for outstanding retail technology solutions. From around 80 applications, finalists have been selected in six categories. The winners will be announced on February 23 as part of EuroShop 2026, and honored at the award ceremony in Düsseldorf for their exceptional achievements.

famila teamed up with shopreme to create a flexible Self-Checkout ecosystem that offers a fast, user-friendly shopping experience. Developed together with Bela IT, the Self-Checkout ecosystem at famila Nordost combines Handheld Scanners and Smart Carts in one platform, fully integrated with POS, ERP, and loyalty systems. Customers can choose between different checkout options, while retailers benefit from centralized management, real-time analytics, and more.

This collaboration highlights how retail technology can enhance convenience, efficiency, and operational insights in modern grocery environments.
