Alcampo has launched Autoscan, a new mobile Scan & Go solution developed and integrated together with shopreme. The first rollout phase covers almost 40 stores across Madrid, Catalonia, and Castilla-La Mancha. Alcampo plans to introduce the service throughout its Spanish store network by the end of 2026.
Integrated directly into the existing Club Alcampo app, AutoScan gives customers greater control over their shopping journey while connecting the digital experience with existing store and checkout processes.
"shopreme helped us extend Self-Checkout without rebuilding our retail ecosystem. The integration of Mobile Scan & Pay into our existing app, together with the connection to third-party SCOs, allowed us to build on our current infrastructure."
Luis M. Gómez, Director departamento de Cajas, Alcampo

How does Alcampo AutoScan work?
Customers open AutoScan in the Club Alcampo app when entering a participating store. The shopping trip can be activated through in-store signage or the app’s geolocation function.
Products are then scanned with the customer’s smartphone before being placed in the basket or shopping cart. Once the shopping trip is complete, the app generates a QR code that transfers the entire digital basket to an SCO.
Payment can be completed at Alcampo’s Cajamiga Self-Checkout Kiosks where available, or at an assisted checkout in other stores, without having to unload the groceries again. Trained store teams remain available to explain the service and support customers when required.
Mobile Scan & Go integrated into existing retail processes
AutoScan is designed to work within Alcampo’s current app and checkout environment. Customers can continue using the familiar Club Alcampo application, which already combines loyalty functions, offers, points, balances, shopping summaries, and store information. The solution is fully integrated with existing third-party SCOs.
For Alcampo, the integration creates an additional checkout journey without separating the digital service from the physical store. Customers can scan as they shop, keep track of their purchases, and complete the transaction using the retailer’s existing checkout infrastructure.

Alcampo takes AutoScan across Spain
Alcampo intends to extend AutoScan progressively to stores across Spain before the end of the year.
The project builds on Alcampo’s long-standing experience with Self-Checkout. Autoscan reduces pressure on checkout zones by moving the self-scanning journey onto customers’ own smartphones.
It also brings shopreme’s Self-Checkout expertise into one of Spain’s leading retail networks. shopreme’s white-label Self-Checkout ecosystem is already deployed in more than 2,000 stores across 12 countries.
The ecosystem connects different, hardware-agnostic Self-Checkout touchpoints such as mobile Scan & Go, Smart Carts, or Handscanners with existing POS, ERP, and loyalty systems, additionally integrated a dedicated employee app, multi-layer loss prevention, and more to create a connected, scalable shopping journey.
