The Retail Technology Awards Europe (Reta) are among the most respected honors in the European retail technology industry. They celebrate outstanding, innovative use of technology in real-world projects that drive digital transformation and deliver measurable impact in store operations.
Organized annually by the EHI Retail Institute, the Awards recognize retailers with the Reta Award, and their technology partners as Top Supplier Retail for their valuable support and innovative contributions.
Joint Smart Store Innovation Recognized at EuroShop
At EuroShop 2026 in Düsseldorf, shopreme was officially awarded the Top Supplier Retail 2026 in recognition of its role as the technology partner with its unified Self-Checkout Ecosystem implemented at famila Nordost.
The joint submission competed in the Checkout & Smart Store category of the Reta Awards, with famila Nordost being selected as a Reta finalist from a strong field of international retail technology projects.
Self-Checkout Without System Replacement
Together with shopreme, famila Nordost implemented its integrated Self-Checkout ecosystem, combining Zebra PS30 Handheld Scanners with Hanshow Smart Carts, the Employee App, and more. shopreme's Self-Checkout software ecosystem seamlessly integrates all solutions with the existing POS, ERP, and loyalty systems, allowing customers to choose their preferred device while maintaining a consistent experience.
All solutions include software-based Loss Prevention. Additionally, the Smart Carts feature AI camera vision for scan validation. Across all touchpoints, employees are supported by the Employee App, enabling efficient spot checks, age verification, and real-time intervention directly on the shop floor.
All touchpoints are centrally managed within the shopreme Management Console, reducing space requirements, optimizing staffing, and enabling scalable deployment across stores.
Smart Carts are the latest add-on to the famila Self-Checkout ecosystem, integrated into the existing infrastructure driven by Bela IT.

shopreme and famila will present the project together in a joint session titled “Self-Checkout on Wheels: How Smart Carts at famila Nordost Convince as a New Success Factor in the Self-Checkout Ecosystem.” The talk will focus on the overall famila ecosystem and the role of smart carts within it.
